Okay, I figured I'd let off some steam, and tell you all exactly whats been going on, that has me all higgledy piggledy.
HOW IT STARTED:
(innocently enough)
Weeks ago, when my friends and I were all getting ready for A-kon one night, *
DogFeathers gets a phone call from his sister. For the sake of keeping this anonymous, for his sister's sake, she shall be called Soma. Now, Soma tells her older brother that their mother is being taken to jail. Feathers and I are astonished, because nothing like that has EVER happened in that household. People have gotten upset and one another, yes, but COPS? JAIL!?! WTF?!! So he gets in his beat up old car and rushes to get home. I wait at our friends house, because 1) I don't really want to get involved and 2) its really none of my business. I do ask him though, via text messages, to call or text me if he needs my help. About an hour goes by, and he finally asks me to come see him. Something terrible has happened and he needs me there.
So I leave, letting those left behind that something is wrong, and that we'll try to be back later if not tomorrow.
I drive to the house, and there is a police car out in front of the house. Before I can even park, the cruiser turns off its lights and heads off. *
DogFeathers is outside in the yard, looking pretty terrible. Obviously, my first question is "What happened?". He then tells me the story...
SO YOU DONT GET CONFUSED:
*
DogFeathers has three sisters. There is Soma, who I already mentioned. Then there is her twin sister, who we'll call Dedra. They are identical twins. They are both 16. Then there is there 19 year old sister who we'll call Claire. Claire is a teen mother, with a 6 month old baby girl. Then there is *
DogFeathers the older brother who is 21.
Okay....
THE NIGHT IN QUESTION:
The females of the house were there that night, arguing over who would wash the dishes. Really, no one wanted to. Soma didn't want to do them. Dedra refused. Claire said she didn't want to either. The arguing got escalated. For one reason or another, Dedra thought it would be a good idea to attack her sister Claire. So, naturally, Claire defended herself. In the mists of the hissy shrieky cat fight, Claire left a few scratches on her sister along with a bruise on her cheek. The mother, who was completely inebriated, decided to call the police on Claire (the one who was attacked). While the cops were on their way, Claire decided she was just gonna go ahead and do the freaking dishes. While washing, Claire was taken by surprise when her own mother came up behind her, grabbed her by the hair, put her on the ground, and started beating her. Then the cops showed up.
They arrested Claire, because she had left wounds on her younger sister Dedra. Claire was charged with assault of a minor. The mother was also arrested. She was charged with assault. Yet, the whole time, the mother was trying to explain to the officers that she was "defending" herself from Claire.
They were taken in separate cop cars to the county jail. The cruiser that I saw leave, was the one that was carrying the mother.
SO NOW WHAT?:
That evening, after I got there, *
DogFeathers asked me to stay and help him take care of the 6 month old baby. The teen mother was gone. The "grandmother" was gone. So it was up to us. Now, you would think that Soma and Dedra would help us with the baby, wouldn't you. Soma did, and we were ever so grateful. Dedra, however, wanted nothing to do with anyone.
The next day, *
DogFeathers and I are worrying that CPS is gonna show up and try to claim the baby. So, Soma invites some of her friends over and they start cleaning. I help and so does Feathers. While we are cleaning the house, our friend ~
blustar9 shows up. Her house was the one we were at last night when we got the call. She's here checking on us, because she hadn't heard from us. We told her the story, and asked her to help us clean and watch the baby. Fortunately for us, Star used to work at a woman's shelter. So, she is really good with little babys AND knows a lot about CPS cases. So, while she holds and watches the baby, she tells us what the CPS officials will look for when they look at the state of the house.
JUST SO YOU KNOW:
That house was filthy. The cat litter boxes were overflowing. There are tins upon tins of Christmas cookies and candies every where. The mom is also a pack rat, so when ever there is a sale, she buys ten and stores them in the house. Mail and junk mail was stacked to the ceiling. Clothes, shoes, magazines, dirty dishes over every counter, beer cans.... etc... Plus she is a smoker, so the walls were ashy because of it.
ANYWAY:
With ~
blustar9s help, we manage to get the down stairs and upstairs bathroom clean by evening time. Dedra didn't lift a finger. In fact, the first thing she did was go downstairs and want to bake a cake. In the middle of a family crisis... she felt it was a good idea to want to bake a cake. Her excuse was that it was for school. Soma said it had nothing to do with school. So, after a fit thrown at *
DogFeathers, she storms out with a cake pan. Later that night she returns with a filthy cake pan, that she leaves in the NOW CLEAN kitchen sink for us to wash. Dedra goes upstairs, puts together a suitcase, and says she's going to go stay with her friend till the mother comes home.
A few more of our friends show up to help us clean. As a thank you, we buy pizza as a thank you, and feed all who helped us. We sat around eating and thought to ourselves and one another that we had never seen this particular house so clean or well kept. Soma kept blaming herself for the whole thing. She said she should have just washed the dishes. Though I do not disagree with that statement, I DO NOT think it was in any way her fault.
To our relief, CPS never showed up. Yet, we still have a little baby, who is used to grandma and mom. So, she begins shrieking because she wants her main caretakers. I don't blame her. I also believe that babies can sense just about anything emotionally. She must have felt our worry and sadness, which made her feel unsafe. I tried and Feathers tried, but there were times when she would just cry and cry. It got to the point that I wanted to cry. She did tire herself out though, and cried herself to sleep a few times.
The next day we hear that Claire and the mom have been before a judge who set bail. The actual trial about what happened wasn't for another three days. See this is where the court system sucks, because they just want to make u have to pay bail, which gives them easy money. $4,000 apiece. $8,000 all together. Clarie didn't even do anything. So, she gets in contact with a bondsmen, Feathers takes Claire's bank card and gets the payments set up. Now, the mom calls Feathers too. She wants him to come bail her out too... He refuses. Soma is scared to death of her. Claire is scared to death of her. Claire is out and needs time to get her stuff and the baby out of the house. Dedra finds out, and yells at Feathers for not "rescuing" mom. So, Dedra runs into the house, grabs the moms purse, and goes to find a legal adult who can bail her mom. Dedra is under age, she can't. So she makes up a story to a neighbor and gets her out.
CLAIRE'S NARROW ESCAPE:
We take Claire home from the jail. We immediately begin to help her pack. Then the mom shows up forty minutes later. The mom comes storming in, and demands that Claire get out of her house. Feathers stands up to her and stops her in the yard. He tells her that there is a court order, saying that she cannot interfere with Claire or the baby (which is true). So, we call the police to come watch the house, while the mother stews. He stands outside waiting, while we hurry. Claire calls her friend Clay, who has a pickup and flatbed trailer to come take her things. The mom hangs around for about 30 minutes, and then leaves. When all is said and done, Claire goes with the baby. The cop wishes us luck, but warns us that the night cops tend to not be very nice. He says, if we can help it, try not to call the night cops. They tend to arrest everyone and let the courts make sense of it.
THE BEAST RETURNS:
We then call the mom, and tell her that Claire and the cop are gone. I wait outside, because I'm scared to death. She gets in there, and screams at Feathers and Soma. Dedra is prancing around outside, letting SunDance (their dog) go to the bathroom. I can hear the mom from the street, screaming and cussing. 20 minutes or so later, *
DogFeathers comes out with a backpack slung over his shoulder, and heads toward me and my car. He said that she told him to get out by Sunday. That day was Wednesday. Friday was the day we left for the con, and Sunday was the day we were planning on getting back.
So we seek legal help. Turns out that she cannot throw him out. Because she had been making him pay her rent (his own mother, I know...) she has to go through court to get him evicted. On top of that, if she harms any of his property or his husky, Mishka, she is in trouble. The next day, Thursday, we tell her about what we learned. She can't do anything until she goes to court. He goes home, and tries to get in, but she's locked him out. His usual access to the house is though the garage with the remote opener. But, she disconnected the power to the door, so it wouldn't work. Feathers doesn't have a key. The mother never wanted to spend the money on having one made for him. After trying every access, Feathers has to wait for his sister Dedra to come and forces his way in. It seems that Dedra and the mom don't know if it legal for them to even be in the house, so they got a hotel room. Too bad they didn't invite Soma. She was left in the house by herself.
A KON 2009:
We decided to go. After all the garbage and human debris, we felt it was only fair that we got to go have a vacation, that we had already spent so much money on. In short, it was a #*cking blast! I got to meet ~
Legna03 and her eveelution cosplay group. It was amazing and adorable. She gave me a poke-egg, that had a jollyrancher and Skitty in it

I also got to meet the amazing ~
blix-it and see her store. I bought a lot of buttons from her, mostly her colored corgi demon collection. I'll post pics!!! She was also so kind, and gave me a button as a gift.

After a con to remember, we realized life had to continue, and that the ramen was going to run out.
OUR RETURN:
I drove Feathers back to his house when we got back. We discovered that his mother had locked him out. AGAIN. This time, we call the cops. It is illegal for a tenant to be locked out of the home they pay to live in. The cop bangs on the door till the mom opens it. He tells her that she HAS to provide Feathers will a key, that she CANNOT lock him out, and that if she wants him to leave, she has to get an eviction notice from the court. She tells the cop that she doesn't wanting him using his car anymore, and that if he does, she will report it stolen. The cop says that if she owns the title, she has the authority to do that. So, despite the fact that *
DogFeathers has paid for the car since he got it, she can take it away because the paper has her name on it... She then sends him a typed letter the next day, of a homemade eviction notice. She says that he has missed payments (which he hasn't), she says he has two weeks to get out (which is illegal because in Texas the tenant gets 20 days at least), and says to expect a bill for the repair of the garage door (which she broke because she kept him out of the house). We looked it up online, and found all she can do is tell him we will be evicted soon. That's it. She cannot make claims. She cannot make up dates. She has to go to court.
A few days later, she tuns off his cell phone, because she doesn't want to pay for it anymore. That's fine, because he's going to get his own soon anyway.
So, I have been taking him to work and what not. We're trying to find him a new home and roommates. We're waiting for his first paycheck from his new job. His mother keeps threatening him and terrorizing his sister Soma.
So now, thats it... we're just waiting for things to start getting better again...
To be honest, I feel like this...

Holy god... I feel so horrible for you folks. Soma too; can you guys take care of her or no?
And is there anything I can do to help?!
I am thinking about making a fund for him. He needs all the help he can get. I'm not asking for money. I'm just suggesting a donation from anyone on dA who is willing.
